Day one started with our feet to the ground running. We met the kids and some of their families or caregivers. They were energized from the moment they entered our gates. Camp included Art, Education, Bible, Indoor games, Sports/outdoor games, and Technology. Campers are placed at grade level not their level of ability yet they all work together to accomplish the end goal. We were all surprised and amazed to see the Interns and Campers work so well together in such a short amount of time. They have bonded and some Campers have developed a trust and respect for their Leaders/Interns that they may not have with any other adult. The Campers day ends with basketball and jump rope in the backyard while waiting for their family or caregiver. Our day is not over...we arouse at anywhere for 6:00 to 7:30 and the day ends at when we call lights out. Officially, the handbook states 11:00. Most of us were exhausted long before that. When the Campers left we still had dinner, chores, and a Cross-Cultural Ministry Study taught by Pastor Jeff. Please pray for our Campers, their family/caregivers, health for team, and that God be glorified in all that is done.
